Jared McMillen

Jared McMillen born in Fargo, North Dakota, spent his formative years fishing, hunting and water skiing on the shores of Lake Lida in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Having always had a hunger for adventure, when he reached 19 years of age, he ventured west for the mountains of Boulder, Colorado where he explored the outdoors and eventually became a professional rock climber with sponsors such as Prana, Blue Water, Cliff Bar and many others.

After many years of climbing, traveling and finding himself in front of the lens as the subject of photographers shooting for climbing magazines, he decided to pick up a camera himself and take a shot at photographing his fellow professional climbers. But climbing images weren’t enough for McMillen; he wanted more knowledge and aspired to document more than climbing. He soon became a member of Sportsshooter.com, which lead him to securing his first major assignment of documenting the World Series of Poker with ESPN. This assignment paved the way for a flurry of other editorial assignments with clients such as BusinessWeek, US News & World Report, Wall Street Journal as well as commercial work with Land Rover and UFC major sponsor, Xyience.

McMillen continues to reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, sharing a studio with his partner, wife and professional photographer Trish Gumina.
